Zumba for a Cure!

This weekend was interesting - massage, self-pedicure, NCAA Basketball. I would have to say the highlight of my weekend was Zumba for a Cure, a zumba event that raised money for Relay For Life. The American Cancer Society is an amazing organization that has (and will) touch many peoples lives. While I was at UNC, I could not stay awake for 24 hour to raise the money, but now I can Zumba. Here's to the start of a (**hopefully**) quick week with a fun weekend ahead!

St Patty's Day

I know it has officially been one month since I have posted, but I have some exciting things coming up. I figured I better start recording my memories so that everyone else can enjoy them! This past weekend entailed St Patty's Day celebrations for Krista's birthday. Brax and I did a pubcrawl with TriSports - an adult get-to-gether type of event. It was a fun, beautiful day.

Day 370

It has taken me awhile to get this pictures together, but that are important nevertheless. I had a fun and relaxed birthday celebration this past Saturday with my family and Braxton at the Twisted Fork in Raleigh. It was a new (to me) gluten free restaurant at a good half way point for us. I don't think anyone was disappointed with the food and the company. It was so nice getting to celebrate my birthday and catch up. Thanks to everyone who took the time to wish me happy birthday! I will let the celebration continue and say happy birthday to my Pops!!! Love you!!!

Day 365

It has officially been one year, and though this has not been as consistent of a blog as I originally expected, it still was a great way to memorialize my past year. Today and yesterday it snow/iced SO bad that we still had to go into work. However, I asked off of work for my birthday a month ago for some self-pampering. This was great foresight as I didn't have to go out into the icy wilderness today. Though my planned haircut, massage, and mani-pedi had to wait for another few weeks, it was nice not to have to worry about getting to work in time. This also allowed me to bake up a storm (chocolate cake and pumpkin cookies) as well as catch up on some TV time. Thank-you to everyone who called or emailed to wish me a happy birthday. I felt loved all day long, and it was so nice to know everyone was thinking of me. I am officially one-quarter down, which means the fun is JUST beginning.

Here are some highlights from this past year:
Graduation from PT School

Ramblin' Rose Triathlon

Busch Gardens and Run for the Dream 8k

Chimbote, Peru

PT School Pinning

Moving back home! Reuniting with friends!

And here's to snomagedon 2014... Happy Birthday!

Day 344

So, sadly there are not any pictures from this week - it just wasn't that eventful. My work is in the process of opening up phase 2 of their building which means new staff (rehab and nursing) plus a load of new admissions. Change is always a challenge, no matter how it comes. It's going to take some adjusting getting used to the new demands of my job, but hopefully it won't take TOO long. I went to a continuing education session on prosthetics on Tuesday and attended a meeting on wheelchair accessories on Wednesday. Attending these classes has gotten me thinking about this upcoming year and some important PT events:
1. APTA National Conference in Charlotte. Hopefully I can get a day or two off for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
2. I need to pick a continuing education course for this year. Will it be geriatrics? Women's Health? Manual Therapy? I guess we will see what's around the corner...

Until then, I will keep organizing the apartment...pictures to follow (still)

Day 337

This weekend was a fun getaway! I got the opportunity to go to Williamsburg (one of my favorite places in the world) and spend some time with my momma and her friends. There is this strange twist of fate friendship between my mom and her friends - and it just happens that we got the opportunity to spend time with her friends and their daughters. What a treat to spend time with these ladies, drink wine, get caught in a rain storm, and enjoy a few CW walks.
 The Ladies....

 The Daughters....

 Planning our Lifetime Movie...

Ending the weekend with a beautiful walk downtown.
I love this place. What I blessing I had growing up having this as a home base.

Day 331

My first weekend that I haven't been working was spent lazy and organizing. I was able to enjoy the weather and be outside a little bit while setting up my piano. It was so nice to have that in my presence again. There are those days when I just start playing and look at my hands and think, wow, I my hands are amazing. Now, don't get me wrong, I am no piano genius and my skills are lacking, but my hands in general are a gift. I feel like they have the power to heal AND can make music.

Another part of my weekend was going to a local brewery for a glass of cider. Here were the rules. Apparently flames aren't allowed...and I am really glad they didn't follow the last one too closely:
